Andre Fletcher Rescue 5...

Don’t think of him as gone away~
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets-
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the fears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost-
and he is loved so much.

Still here...

I met Andre back in August of 2001 about four weeks before 9/11/01. I was training to be a Fire Alarm Dispatcher a job which that did not work out well for me, but on that day in August, 2001 Rescue 5 came to Staten Island Communications Center. It is here that Andre gave a tour of Rescue 5 to the probationary dispatchers and I remember talking to him afterwards. Andre shared with me his dream of being a Fire Marshal and further pursuing his career at FDNY. I shared with him about my career as a NYC Health & Hospitals Corporation Police Officer. What I will never forget about Andre was his humanity and great personality. I will never ever forget Andre and I was proud to have met him and want to send my deepest condolences to his family.

I miss you more now then ever. Youre in my thoughts today and every day. Im so thankful that you were a part of my life.

You know me Andre...because you are watching me now...

When I think of the times you made me laugh,
It makes me feel so sad to know that you had somewhere to go.

God knows Ill miss you.
It breaks my heart to know youll be away, so far,
But Ill be with you.
We’ll meet in heaven some day.
Till then Ill just look to the stars
And when I feel a breeze, your spirit’s running free..
I know you’ve smiled at me with love,
And I can feel your touch.

I will remember..
PROMISE
I will not forget you..
Ill never let the memories fade,
I WONT FORGET.

There are no good byes,
Just a pause to celebrate your life.
With all that’s in me,
Ill keep your flame burning bright
As you walk into eternal light
And when I feel a breeze, your spirit’s running free.
I know you’ve smiled at me with love,
And I can feel your touch.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Andre's death. We were in the same Kindergarten class, and I know how close he and Zackary were. My prayers go out to the Fletcher family.
