I posted on this site almost 10 years ago to the day when I was a senior in college and drew Dennis' name from the flags on our campus. This past weekend, a friend and I took a trip to NYC for work and fun. When we visited the 9/11 memorial, the line was long and we weren't sure we would be able to enter because we didn't have a pass. However, the stars seemed to align that day -- a second line was opened and, within minutes, we walked right in without having a ticket and were able to view the memorial. When we walked to the first pool, I was astonished to realize that we walked almost directly to Dennis' name. My friend and I were brought to tears -- drawing his name 10 years ago and inadvertently walking directly to his name today is a coincidence that one can only call divine. I felt compelled to re-post on this wall and remind the family that, after all this time, his memory is not forgotten. When I drew his name 10 years ago, it left an impression on me and touched me in a way that is indescribable -- I recognized his name at the pool and I remembered the story of him and his family over 10 years later. Now with kids and a family of my own, I continue to say prayers for Dennis' family and all the families affected by this tragedy. My brother returned home from Afghanistan this year, fighting for our freedom and those who lost their lives here. God bless you all and know that this country continues to stand behind you!

With Love,

Jean and Kids (Nichole and Dennis Jr),
As I watched documentaries on television last night about the towers, attending church this morning and now this afternoon as we prepare for a 9/11 10th anniversary memorial service here in Bossier City, I cannot help but remember my Brother Firefighter friend that I had met and sat next to several years ago at the National Fire Academy and his family.
I will continue to Pray for your family and remember that Strength comes from the Lord! God Bless...
Ian

To the family of Dennis Carey:
In order to honor the memory of those who died on that fateful day of September 11, 2001, my son's school (student council) has handed out hospital bands that they are calling prayer bracelets with the pictures, names and ages of the fallen victims.

It is my honor to wear the name of Dennis Carey and pray for the family and friends of those he left behind.

Beth Stroop

Hello Jean. My name is Beth Stroop. My husband Craig Stroop climbed in the 9/11 Memorial Stairclimb in Nashville, TN. He was given a picture of a fallen hero, and that picture was of Dennis. We carried that picture with him all 110 stories. I would love to share our photos and prayers with you and your family if you want to. I just wanted to let you know that we will NEVER FORGET! It was our honor and pleasure to honor your husband this past Saturday, 9/11/10. Our prayers are with you always!

Sincerely,
Beth & Craig Stroop, Tullahoma Fire Department, Tullahoma, TN

Jennifer Fraser

I am a Senior at Mount Union College in Alliance, OH. Our college had a memorial service today for the victims of 9/11. 3,005 flags adorned our campus, each having the name of a victim on the flag. All of the faculty and students were to take one flag, and I happened to draw Dennis'. I just wanted to convey my deepest sympathies to his family and let them know that people all around the country are keeping him and you in our thoughts and prayers.

God Bless,
Jennifer Fraser

Today at my college's rememberance service they had baskets of stickers. Each sticker had the name of a different person who lost their life in the attacks on September 11th. I blindly chose the sticker with Dennis M. Carey's name; Age 51. I have taken the time to learn a little about him and make a small memorial to him in my dorm room. Today I pray for him, his family, all the others who lost their lives that fateful day, their families, and this great country.

Sincerely,
Alison L. Henderson
