Even though a year and a half has passed since that fateful day, I still remember Richard Bruehert since he was one of my classmates in the Computer Science major at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. I remember him being something of a science fiction fan because his login name on one of the academic computing machines was "gandalf" after a character in "Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien. Even though he was more of a friendly acquaintance than an out and out friend, there still was some cameraderie amongst us CS majors and he was a good person to work with. May Richard's memory be eternal and may God give rest to his soul and comfort to his family.

It was my great honor to sing in Mozart's "Requiem" in Seattle, Washington, Sept. 11, 2002, wearing a "heart badge" with Richard Bruehert's name inscribed upon it -- I sang for him, I sang for all who died on 9/11/2001, I sang for America, and for the world. From this day forth, so long as I live, I shall not forget Richard Bruehert; he and his loved ones will be in my prayers.
