Father Joseph Musco My memory of Lt. Steven was as a child. Steve lived across the street and a couple of houses to the left. He was many years older, so naturally his life was lived differently. This said, he was gentle and kind with us kids. He even played a little ball in the street with us a couple of times :-) My dad, Anthony, always liked the nice hard working young man. May perpetual light shine upon him. And may peace be with those who feel sad at Steve's passing. chris jjill steven is and will always be one of the "119" crew, we had good times in the ol school yard. rest in peace steve, remembering: Chris Jill Jessica my uncle was lt steven bates was my uncle as this web site states he perished in 911. the last time i saw him was the friday before 911.i promised that we would go to splish splash together with the rest of my family. of course that never happened when i wish it did. i will never forget my candy loving uncle. L.T Steven .J. Bates.
herman nicka I grew up with Steve in Glendale Queens in the 70's. A very kind hearted person. funny and soft spoken as I remember him. My heart is in sorrow but Steve did what his soul calls for ...to save lives.
