As I was just going through some things that were in boxes after making the move to California from New York after September 11th, I found some photos of Michael Miller and I.

We dated for about 5 months in 1999 and stayed in touch throughout the years. We started talking more and more and he got engaged to Patricia. I was so happy for the both of them.

Nine days after the tragedy, on September 20th, I was walking along Canal Street and of all the thousands of signs that were posted along the fences and street posts, one stood out. It was attached with two pieces of duct tape and it said something that looked like he had written it himself. "Here we come to save the day." That wsa from a cartoon called Mighty Mouse. Underneath the quote was the name Mikey Miller. Below this seemingly cut and paste message was this poem:

Our apologies to those who grieved over us,
Worry not about our souls as we are heroes,
Let tears flow and anger run if you must,
For freedom shall not be taken by our foes.

I loved Michael. He was a wonderful man. I'll miss him more than most will know. xxox
